Silver is world wide used metal in different industries but here I’ll be speaking about art, beauty and creativity!
Did you know there is a great silver museum in Latvia?
All works here are made by legendary master of silver-work Oleg Auzer. He is working and creating great masterpieces for more than 47 years. In 1991 he established a jewelry college to become first of this kind in Baltic states. Since 2008 he has presided over the Baltic Jewelry Association.
Silver museum is located in a small town Limbaži. It takes 1 hour to get here from Riga by car.
Here is a museum and a silver jewelers school in the same building.
The sculpture in front yard is meaningful and popular for couples on their wedding day:)
Museum is working every day. Admission fee is 5 euro. We visited it in November and there were some works traveling around the globe, thus we got a discount 🙂 We payed just 2,5 euro for a ticket. If you need some detailed information (working hours etc.) visit the museum’s official website web
What do you know about silver? Do you know that silver is used in medicine? The staff will explain you a bit;) and you’ll have an opportunity to try silver water 🙂 Try it, it’s healthy!
The staff are very knowledgeable and will explain all about silver processing techniques, how the items were made, their histories behind and the artistic meaning of sculptures.
There are several halls with sculptures in museum. In addition to exhibition you will enjoy paintings on the walls (Mr. O. Auzer’s brother’s works)

Small works worth attention!
Here is “God’s intention/and there was a day, and there was a night”. The vase of flowers symbolizes the beauty and value of this abundant planet that needs to be saved. For this we need to drop the swords and let them get rusty. This work is reference to the recent events in Ukraine in 2014.
Plates are made in different techniques! Which one do you like more? 🙂
Author works can be seen in private collections or worn by high and mighty of the world: George W. bush, Vladimir Putin, Prince Charles, queen Elizabeth II. Here is a copy of the brooch – a present for Elizabeth II.
His works can be found not only here in Latvia, but all over the world!
This exhibition is not so big but 100% exquisite.
You have an option to buy some souvenirs, they got some items:)
It is one of the “must see” museums in Latvia!
Two great works: “The ship” and “Castle of future” are real cultural heritage! But unfortunately both are exhibited in other museums at the moment. We will come back here next time to see them and new works!
Don’t sit at home. Travel! Travel with me! 🙂 Meaww!
