Weekend in Amsterdam. Day 1. Stroll around the city. Amsterdam Historical Museum. Red Light District.

I always dreamed that my first time to visit Amsterdam will be in a spring to smell and wonder tulips, but it’s autumn. 2015 is outside and we have an opportunity to attend it on weekends, so why not? 2,5 hours flight and we are in the Netherlands’ capital!

Probably a good idea is to cycle through the city, cause cycling is the key of the city’s character. Locals say that here are more bicycles than people:) So if you like pedal power, you’ll enjoy your stay in Amsterdam 🙂 Just remember that many locals use their bikes for everything, so sometime bike lanes can be crowded a bit 😉

But mainstream is not our selected method. Our key transportation to day is left and, most important also, right feet! 😀

165 canals encircle the city,  so if you have enough time and an opportunity take a canal cruise, there are many different of them on offer. Trust me, you will enjoy this lovely ride and unique Amsterdam’s landscape.

Amsterdam is pretty big, so you have a lot of opportunities of what to do! We have only 48 hours. Today we are just strolling around canals discovering elegant and gorgeous architecture. Here is the Amsterdam Historical Museum on our way. It’s  in the very center of Amsterdam, let’s visit it to understand city’s rich history.
