Good morning San Marino. The weather is a bit better today, so we hope to see beautiful views we came here for :)!
San Marino has multitude of steps and some seriously steep hills to walk up and down 🙂
We put our sneakers on and ready to discover towers of San Marino!
It takes a bit of climbing to get here, but the tower is worth a visit for the panoramic views.
1st tower.
The fortress, built in the 1200s, is comprised of three towers, all of them have been restored in some way over the years.
Visiting hours and prices may change, so check it out before coming here:)
Guaita, Cesta and Montale Tower are the three symbols of Mount Titan.
Two of them were actually used as prisons up until the 1960s. Guaite and Cesta tower can be accessed by the public.
The views are really breath taking!
Still a bit foggy but views are so romantic and mysterious!
The views are simply amazing, they stretch north west to the Apennines and east to the coast.
We didn’t visit Cesta tower, but locals say that it’s also impressive, has lovely views and nice museum room with medieval weapons.
It’s time to go to the next city, so we are leaving San Marino.
Remember, that cars are prohibited inside the city walls.
Our car was parked here 🙂 at P6.
There are street parks available along the road for cars and a car park right outside the city gates!
Look at these majestic Tuscany landscape!
We starting to discover Florence!
Probably the most recognizable place in Florence is The Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore also known as Duomo!
The red-tiled cupola was designed by Brunelleschi and is described as a must-see by travelers 🙂
We get to this place by accident, but how wonderful is here! Look around! Here is Riccardi medici palace, the Renissance house, where it all began 🙂
Visit it if you have time! We have different plans for today )
Outside is a small but tremendous garden with sculptures.
Very close to Duomo is very impressive Leonardo Da Vinci museum! 7 euros per ticker, it worth it 100%.
You will discover the world, the life, the works of a worldwide Genius, whose secrets are still not yet completely revealed.
Here you will see the reproductions of his most important paintings.
You will have an opportunity to test the functioning of his most important projects and designs 🙂
We liked museum, it was really impressive! A lot to see, to touch and to learn about this great man, his inventions and discoveries!
You don’t want to stand in a line to get in a museum?
So, it’s for you! Visit the Piazza della Signoria – an open-air sculpture gallery of Renaissance art. Yeahhh, plus it’s for free 🙂
Tremendous sculptures and lot of bars and restaurants around the edge.
The statue of David is a masterpiece, one of the most famous works of art in the world! If you wanna to say hi to original David you need to visit Galleria dell’Academia(Google maps), here in Florence. We saw a line to get in the Academia. OMG, you can spend minimum 2 hours standing there:(
A perfect replica of Michaelangelo’s David is on the Piazza della Signoria! No lines and for free 🙂
Mercato del Porcellino – small outdoor market where you can go shopping for leather goods and cheap souvenirs.
Don’t miss the fountain on the edge of the market:) Put a coin in the boar’s mouth if you wish to go back to Florence! 😉
Medieval stone bridge that spans the Arno River – the Ponte Vecchio is one of the symbols of the city of Florence!
For centuries, shops have lined both sides of the bridge. It’s busy and alive nowadays, full of jewelry shops here.
A view from the Ponte Vecchio bridge 🙂
Tomorrow will be new day and new emotions:)
See you tomorrow 🙂
