Day 3. Morning. We are heading to Barcelona’s heart – La Rambla. The most popular promenade both for locals as well as for tourists.
La Rambla is primarily pedestrianized with only 2 narrow one-way traffic lines which run along the Boulevard.
Quite busy with parking slots) even for motorbikes)) but we were lucky and found free parking slot near Joan Miro’s Pla de l’Os mosaic.
Some people don’t stop, just walk over Joan Miro’s Pla de l’Os mosaic, but if you do – you can notice these colors which Barcelona’s artists like to use))
We decided to have a breakfast here in a magical place on La Rambla – Mercado de la Boquería. The place I come to visit every time when I am in Barcelona!!!
You can find food of all varieties and nationalities under the same roof!!!
+ you can find here a lot of different snacks, fruits, juices and other kind of meal for any gourmet.
Kinda, perfect lunch in a restaurants or bars. Just take into account you will eat surrounded by a crowd of people 🙂
Seafood is my favorite and fresh fruit section (++chocolate strawberries on a stick + squeezed fruit juices !)
Never ending food options!!
If you are going to visit the market – I advice you to do it in the morning! It’s really in full swing till 2 p.m.
We are going up to Montjuïc hill. It’s a major landmark and a popular tourists destination in Barcelona! We are riding up on our bike, but don’t be afraid of going up there from placa Espania. There are escalators, so you will need to do only few steps up the hill and then down))
We left our bike near Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya.
The place to go for art and Montjuïc fountains’ captivating view.
The museum is a small city, you can spent from few hours up to entire day there. General admission – 12 euro.
Be strategic after you get a brochure map. Plan your stay wisely.
Catalan modernism, Gothic art, European Renaissance… And don’t miss temporary exhibitions!
The collection of art is outstanding!
From my opinion you need to see and enjoy Romanesque mural painting, medieval frescoes, because you won’t find another place with treasures like this!!
The roof view.
But if you are not a museum person) just enjoy terrific view from the terrace in front of the museum.
If you have free time, find relaxing botanic garden nearby!
We found a lot of parrots, who were having a lunch on a beautiful tree.
One more place to visit on the Montjuïc hill is – Castell de Montjuïc. Probably the best way to go there if you don’t have private vehicle is by the cable car (telefic de Montjuïc)
It’s an old military fortress. The place that has seen a lot of historical events! General price is 10 euro:) Extra information you can get on official web site link
170 meters above the see. Spectacular view of the Barcelona harbor!!!
On the other side – city view! Definitely worth going up!
The coastal cannons, moats, historical exposition…
Or just stroll around and enjoy various bastions
Our great idea for this evening is in progress – we are going to Montserrat mountains to catch the sunset and take some great shoots!!
The road through mountains is perfect. Feel freedom on two wheels!!
Spectacular mountain views with unusual rock formation of Catalunya.
You can park here:
If you wanna visit a monastery, museum, walk along small market stalls with farmers selling country food, etc. come a bit earlier, before the sunset 🙂 As we arrived there at about 17:00. Too late, all restaurants, museums was already closed.
We are here for a breathtaking views of natural beauty!!
No words to describe – just come here once in your life!
Impressive and peaceful at the same time!!
It’s dark outside but one more beautiful place – architectural jewel for today – on our way to the next hotel))
Maxia Frexa in a small city Terrassa.
Like in many Spanish cities, in the heart of this city there is an interesting place to visit – Maxia Freixa. The house designed in Art Nouveau style, probably the inspiration by Gaudí 🙂
It’s really a unique architecture gem of modernism!! You can attend it 24/7 for free in a park.
Well done for today, it’s time to have some rest! Tomorrow will be new day and new emotions:)
See you tomorrow 🙂
The journey to be continued…
Don’t sit at home. Travel! Travel with me! 🙂 Meaww!
