Today I’m taking a bus excursion to Salzburg! Guess, what it playing in my headset? Of cause legendary classical composer’s symphonies 🙂 Salzburg attracts thousands of classical music lovers each year! It’s a birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart!
We made one stop to find some coffee on our way. Enjoying my coffee with a wonderful view 🙂
Salzburg is located at the foot of the Alps on the border with Germany. So, 100% you’ll get picturesque mountains panoramas on your way ;)!
I have only one day, not even a full one in Salzburg 😦 So, let’s visit few must see touristic places in Salzburg :))
Let’s start with the Mirabell Palace and it’s gardens! The geometrical form, which is typical for the Baroque period, so amazing!
Enjoy a walk by the flowers and fountains!
Mozart was born and raised in Salzburg. The city has various museums, places and monuments in the honor of Mozart, but his birthplace is one worth to visit! You will find here details of his childhood life, musical instruments (even his first violin), various original documents chronicling his life and replica of his own piano.
Mozart’s house, museum is located on a Salzburg’s most famous shopping street – Getreidegasse. I’m not a shopaholic, but it’s worth to walk here, so scenic walk. The buildings here have beautiful designs and iron guild signs above pedestrians’ heads. That gives Getreidegasse some extra charm.
Salzburg cathedral is a stellar example of Baroque architecture in the city . Look at these stunning white walls, and you’ll find surprising details and exciting murals inside!
Look at these great ceiling murals!
One more famous detail 🙂 Mozart was baptized here in 1756.
Wanna to find at least one Mozart’s monument? You are welcome on the Mozartplatz!
Mozart square is frequently used for concerts and celebrations. Nice place to spend some time.
There are plenty of street stalls for a real taste of local life.
I would say, that you need to try at least 2 things in Salzburg 🙂 first one is oversized pretzel 🙂
The second one is “Original Salzburg Mozartkugel”! This version is original one! These small, spherical chocolates filled with a marzipan nucleus and layers of pistachio, nougat are covered by a colorful blue-and-silver foil wrapper. NOT a red one!
Only the Fürst company can label their product “Original Salzburg Mozartkugeln.”
One more place I would like to visit – Hohensalzburg fortress ( Google maps ), it’s biggest fully preserved in Central Europe, with fantastic views over Alps! but I’m short on time 😦
There are a lot of beautiful lakes near Salzburg, locals even called it “Salzburg Lake District”. So, if you have an opportunity to visit them – do it! Everything around is so photogenic.
Idyllic view.
Here you can feel natural Austrian beauty and charm, with its numerous lakes flanked by pretty small towns and villages.
Breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
You might get the impression it’s not quite real 🙂
Tomorrow will be new day and new emotions:)
See you tomorrow 🙂
Don’t sit at home. Travel! Travel with me! 🙂 Meaww!
Next day …
Previous day…Vienna. Day 2.
