It’s always was a question for me – What’s the best and right time to start travelling with small kid 🙂 There is no correct answer, as all it’s depend on you 🙂 This time we are flying to Poland’s capital with six month old baby:) It will be the third flight in his life 🙂
Ouchhh, it’s a bit rainy 😦 But there is no bad weather for us!!! Yep, be prepared that it could be rainy in November in Poland 🙂 Just take an appropriate clothes with you ! 🙂
There are a lot of things to do and great places to visit in Warsaw, but we are short on time, so here will be a small story what we’ve visited on one rainy November’s day in 2019 🙂
We are starting our small adventure by visiting the museum 🙂 Here, in this beautiful old and renovated building you can learn all about famous polish composer Fryderyk Chopin!
It’s really worth a visit, even if you are not a big fan of classical music 🙂
We like it’s very interactive way how you can explore Chopin’s life and works.
Two generations enjoying video and music 🙂
Museum is really full of modern hi-tech solution!
You can do a lot of activities here and fully immerse in incredible Chopin’s music!
Here are a lot of interactive ways to enjoy it!
Yep, a hole interior is also very amazing! I really recommend to see this museum, no matter what your interests are 🙂 we really enjoyed our visit.
10 min on foot and we are standing in front of one more legendary Polish person’s monument!
May be you don’t know he is Polish 🙂 but you 100% know what he’ve done :)) !!! He formulated a new model of the universe and placed the Sun in the center of universe!
Correct, It’s great historical mathematician and astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus.
Look down near the monument, here you can find representation of Copernicus’ solar system!
We are going to walk along very popular Nowy Świat street, it’s one of the main streets in the city. (part of so called Royal Route).
There are multiple cosy squares on our way! So, if you have free time and nice weather, take a moment, enjoy a cup of coffee or ice-cream in the small square!
It’s very elegant street with plenty of great building and some monuments and palaces! and it’s running into the Old Town! So it’s a great way to see some city’s landmarks if you have only one day visit 🙂
There are also some nice churches to admire along our stroll. This one is Roman Catholic Church of the Visitants.
Chopin used to play organ in this church:)
There is a monument of Stefan Wyszynski in front of the church, well known for his heroic stand against Nazism and Communism, once he was the leader of Polish nation in opposition to the totalitarian government controlled by the Soviet Union.
One more peaceful square to chill!
We are finally in front of impressive huge Sigismund’s Column located at the Castle Square! Old Town starts from this column! It’s very easy to find, hard to miss, cause it dominates the square 🙂
Yes, King Sigismund’s III of Poland column is one of Warsaw’s famous landmarks in Old Town and it’s quite popular meeting point:)
Castle square is very beautiful with a lot of colorful buildings, cafes … but it’s worth to remember that it all was rebuilt after severe devastation during the World War II.
One more lovely and colorful Market square!
Here you can find beautiful buildings, restaurants, shops, cafes and galleries.
Not so far from the square is one more nice little shop – Lapidarium, full of of vintage and antique items. everyone can find something interesting for himself:)
The Old Town can be visited in a short period of time, it took us less than 1 hour to see most of it while baby had his daily nap:) Very pretty area!
If you want to get a sense of the Old Town once looked like visit 16th-century castle defense wall with towers, all was damaged during the WWII bombarding, but now is beautifully reconstructed.
Here is very lovely atmosphere for a pleasant walk along the walls, so massive fortifications that surrounded the city.
It’s time for a crazy-classic photo shot of a water drain :))
Plus one more shot with Warsaw Barbican! It’s actually like a gate between the Old Town and New Town, so we are going to see a small part of the New Town also!
We need some energy to move on, so it’s time to refuel!
No trip to Warsaw is complete, until you try the famous Polish dumplings. There are a lot of restaurants serving them, but we tried some in traditional restaurant Zapiecek, you can find few of those in Warsaw.
By the way, dumplings here were very delicious!
New town is more calm and not so crowded, so very nice for a relaxing walk!
It’s less bustling and touristic
10 minutes walk from the the Old town and we are standing in front of Marie Curie sculpture!
Great woman, the very first woman who received the Nobel Prize twice in two scientific fields!
Here you can find the monument of Marie Sklodowska-Curie with her polonium and enjoy the Vistula’s river view.
As always, some small souvenirs before taxi to the airport!
it’s time to go home!
That’s all for today.
Tomorrow will be new day and new emotions:)
See you tomorrow 🙂
Don’t sit at home. Travel! Travel with me! 🙂 Meaww!
