Greek islands. Day 2. Kea island lagoons. Ermoupoli on Siros island.

It’s probably the first morning in our life, when we have zero clue of the location we woke up 🙂 without looking on Google map 🙂

I was sleeping very well, didn’t hear waves and anchoring process during the night at about 2:00 a.m.

Here is our fantastic morning view! We found ourselves on the west side of the Kea island. So, what’s our plan? Not to have any 🙂

  • Have a tasty coffee/tea and breakfast!
  • Swim in a perfect indigo color water!
  • Go to the beach, so the smallest crew member has an opportunity to stretch muscles for a bit, play on the beach and gather some stones and seashells (they will be like toys for her on the boat during hole journey 🙂 )

Saying bye – bye to this place and ready to explore the best lagoons…

Greece has very balmy climate even in September 🙂 Sea is very calm today and all around there are tons of panoramic views. Just a pleasure to sail like this!

Marine traffic on our way is quite heavy. We need to be alert and act quickly!

Saying hello to a bigger ships passing by our way!

Guys are tracking our passage in old school manner way 🙂 just for fun 🙂 Nowadays all boats are equipped with modern hi-tech chart-plotters. However, even nowadays sailing schools teach how to use dinosaur era’s tools. Just in case. As you never know what sea arranged for you. You better came prepared!!! :))

Next stop for brunch is on the east side of the Kea island. Super clean water, tiny and clean beach with one small tavern on it. No crowds at all! 🙂 It is really an advantage when you have a local pro skipper at your disposal. He knows location of precious gem locations all over the map with really few tourist inhabitants.

Happy me! Why so happy? Cause this time we have friends to share these moments with! You can argue with most killing facts, but anyhow humanity is social type of civilization and demands emotions exchange!!

Incredible sea inhabitants around us. Unforgettable feeling to swim with so charming creatures around.

Continuing sailing. However, we used engine quite a lot, but this is incredible feeling to use just power of the wind! A salty breeze whispering in ears, silence and gentle waves knocking your boat!

Standing still on land after 2 days on swells grant you incredible feeling of phantom waving body on stable surface:)  Update of my feelings: no sea sick, but when I’m standing on the land – I feel swing 🙂

We are in Finikas marina, on the Syros island.

Andrew is standing in a line to meet harbor master to register our boat, pay parking slot rent, electricity and water. It’s 21 euro – for our boat on pier. It is pretty busy place around 6ish pm as many boats are parking for a night and no one in a hurry 🙂 Who got the life do not rush! :))

I’m trying to find out cosy place to have dinner.

We’ve decided to visit main town on the island, called Ermoupoli.

Yep, we called a taxi, but sometimes it’s easier to get there by shuttle bus. Taxi to the city center was 13 euro.

Ermoupoli is very nice sea-side town. Here you can find marble-paved squares, small shops and taverns on the promenade near the port and narrow streets with elegant neoclassical buildings on hills.

I found nice place to eat, but it was overcrowded and require booking in advanced, so it’s Andrew’s turn to search for nutritious content 🙂 While he is googling, I’m enjoying the super-yachts panorama 🙂

After the dinner we walked through the town and found the most bustling and atmospheric place – it’s Miaouli square near the town hall.

Remember!!! That it’s getting dark quite fast in September here, so if you wanna nice and bright photos do them before 7 p.m. 🙂

BUT! After dark comes, entire town illuminated and has it’s special charm with unique atmosphere.

What to do on yacht in the evening?:) Of cause, a bit of rum and long stories with friends are always a good idea 🙂 luckily we are old enough to have tons of fairy-tales to exchange under few glasses of inspiration :)))

While adults are enjoying a glass of vacation kids from neighbor yachts are having fun 🙂 Look – they are catching small crabs 🙂 with scoop net and small head flashlight.
