Amsterdam is a gem for museum lovers, it’s home to many famous museums:  the Van Gogh Museum, the Stedelijk Museum, the Rijksmuseum, The Royal Concertgebouw … If you have enough time visit  – Museumplein, it’s cultural heart of Amsterdam.

We’ll visit our ultimate list 🙂 Let’s start with National Museum of Spectacles. Over 35 years ago, the father of the museum’s current owner decided to share his family’s most beloved passion with the public.

The Theunissen family has had a strange obsession with spectacles 🙂 but now we can explore so fantastic museum!

Exhibits detail the 700-year history of eye wear and the role that spectacles have played in art, fashion and medicine. Museum is quite small but there is a nice, tiny shop on the ground floor:)

We found long long lanes to visit Anne Frank house – museum 😦  so visit it early in the morning or book online in advance to beat the queues.

This museum is the actual home where Anne’s family lived and hid for much of World War II. Anne Frank’s story is probably the most familiar personal tale to result from the horrors of the Holocaust.

Unfortunately we have no time to stand in big line 😦 so it’s time to enjoy canals nearby 🙂 cause they themselves are the best attractions in Amsterdam!

It’s always a good idea to stop, relax and enjoy the world famous beer brand – Heineken! If you love beer and enjoy museums visit Heineken beer museum, here in the city center ( Google maps ) 🙂 where you will be able to learn about the brewing process and enjoy a beer:)

Our next stop is the KattenKabinet or “Cat Cabinet”. As I’m a cat lover, I just can’t skip this place 😉

“Cat cabinet” was founded by Bob Meijer in 1990 as an act of remembrance for his own departed cat 😦 Here you will find sculptures, paintings, books, posters… cats of all species and hue.

The museum is in the bottom floors of historic 1667 townhouse, while Meijer and his family still live in the upper floors 🙂

Even small and cosy garden is full of cats!

Of course the museum would be nothing without some live specimens 🙂 I really enjoyed it!

We need some calories to move further 🙂 Let’s try famous Dutch fries! Hmm technically not really Dutch, but Flemish 😉 served with mayonnaise, peanut sauce and onions.

More and more classic shots with canals and bicycles! Someone just stop me!:)

One more museum for this trip – Erotic museum! It’s not so big, no so surprising or strange 🙂 but I think it worth that money (enter fee was 5 euros)!

Ohh, this time always come unexpectedly – time when you need to grab some souvenirs with you and go back home 😦 We decided to visit local market – Westermarkt on our way and find something here. It’s a real local market with a plenty of different products.
