It’s summer 2014 and I have an opportunity to visit the French Riviera’s largest city – Nice!
This time I’m not on vacation, I have to study hard. However, I will have some spare time to see interesting places around:)!
Probably the most emblematic promenade in Nice is the Promenade des Anglais. It’s a gorgeous pedestrian walkway that stretches for seven kilometers and has excellent view of the Mediterranean sea.
Really a great place to walk along and relax. Here you can find luxury hotels, bars, restaurants, casinos, beach clubs and lot of ice-cream stalls, but don’t forget that prices on the Promenade des Anglais are sky high because it’ really full of tourists.
One more thing I like on promenade is that there is lot of opulent buildings surrounded by lush gardens and you can even find here a small replica of the Statue of Liberty 🙂
My plan is just to stroll a bit, stop for a swim, eat an ice-cream, sit on the one of distinctive blue chairs, enjoy the sunset and watch the world go by 🙂
I always like to wander around boats 🙂 So yeahh, I can’t miss – Quartier du port 🙂 Here is so chic Nice’s harbor, a lot of mega-yachts, but still I can find a lot of small fishing boats near these giants 🙂
Nice place to spend a warm evening, catch the sunset and make some photos of yachts and colorful buildings on the background! Feeling of vacation 🙂
One more place to relax and refresh I like so much is promenade du Paillon! It’s very nice place to cool of from the sun:) Take you shoes off and run through the fountain like a kid:) It’s quite popular place to hang out in the evenings too 🙂
From the promenade du Paillon I’m crossing famous Place Masséna – Google maps (sorry no photo, cause I’ve lost many photos from this trip) and here is one more perfect place where you can relax in the town – Jardin Albert 1er.
It’s one of the oldest public gardens with variety of shady palm trees, roses, playgrounds for children, fountains, tables and chairs simply to sit and enjoy your time!
After refueling my energy in a park I’m ready to explore picturesque old town, by the way- it’s about 10 min walk from the Promenade des Anglais or from a park to the old city’s heart :), so don’t miss it!
Take your time to stroll and explore narrow cobblestone alleys, small and cosy squares, cute boutiques, bars and cafes. So romantic atmosphere is here!
By the way if you need some fresh fruits, vegetables or flowers visit Cours Saleya market, located in old Nice’s quarter, you’ll get colorful and aromatic experience 100%!
Today I’m going to visit one more city on French Rivera. Just in front of the bus station I see a lot of film murals. So, guess ,where I am? Of cause:) It’s Cannes!!!
Cannes probably the best known for it’s film festival. Festival de Cannes is one of the most famous international festivals in the world. It’s a great reason to visit Cannes, very chic event! Cannes Lions also is held here at the Palace of Festivals and Conferences.
Even if you have no opportunity to meet a movie star in Cannes, you can still say hello and touch your idol hand in such way on the Walk of Fame 🙂 like on the photo below 🙂
I’m saying Hi 🙂 to Catherine Zeta Jones )
There are a lot of beautiful sculptures and statues in Cannes, some great museums with exhibitions of modern art…
I’m limited in spare time, so I’m just strolling around the city, no charming beaches, no great shopping for today 😦 but trust me there are a lot of super nice boutiques and shops here, of cause a bit pricey 🙂
I wish I could spend here some days, there are a lot to see and do. May be I’ll be back one day 🙂 but now – bye bye Cannes and last photo to my personal archive, the classic one shot 🙂
Today I also have some free time, so I decided to make one more small dream come true 😉 Today I’m visiting Monaco! It’s also French Riviera:) so it was only 45 min trip from Nice to Monaco by bus (ticket: about 1,5 euro)
When the bus opened doors in front of me and I’ve made some steps on the street in the city center – my first feeling? – OMG, there is luxury smell in the air!
I wander a bit in the center: a lot of opulent buildings, super expensive cars are driving around 🙂 … found a great sculpture on my way, located right on the Rascasse curve of the Monaco street circuit. The sculpture – Fangio (one of the best Formula One car drivers in the world) leaning on his Mercedes Benz, which earned him one of his victories at the Monaco Grand Prix. …but these all wasn’t in my dreams… 🙂
My dream was to visit oceanographic museum of Monaco! That’s the reason I’m here 🙂
I enjoyed every film of Jacques-Yves Cousteau on National Geographic every weekend in my childhood. I’ve never seen before, magic underwater adventures every weekend! and now I’m standing here, in the museum, where he was director between 1957 and 1988. Isn’t it awesome??
It’s very nice museum, 4 floors with a great variety of sea related objects: diving gear, sea animal skeletons, fossils, photographs and archive documents, tools, weapons…. aquariums…
This place is made for those who loves oceanography. Plus here is a unique shark lagoon, so you’ll have an opportunity to touch the real shark! It was my first experience, incredible feelings! Have you ever touched sharks!!! 😀
Honestly, it is a fantastic place to visit (especially with kids), the building itself are marvelous, museum is not so big and won’t take the whole day. Also don’t miss the roof top terrace with a breathtaking sightseeing.
No time to see something more here, so I’ll just lay on the grass in the park next to museum and enjoy the view along the coast line before coming back home.
Back to airport, Kiss and Fly 🙂 Time to say Bye Bye!
Tomorrow will be new day and new emotions:)
See you tomorrow 🙂
Don’t sit at home. Travel! Travel with me! 🙂 Meaww!
