Morning! We are in a great city – Girona!
We didn’t plan to spend a lot of time here, but let’s do a small city walk in the morning .
Medieval walls…
Unique churches…
Tiny, narrow streets.
Some people can recognize Girona views even if they haven’t been here))
Could you? Popular serial “Game of thrones” was filmed here!
The magnificent Girona cathedral is located on the highest point in the town. Girona Cathedral has the widest Gothic nave in the world.
Relive your favorite Game of Thrones moments on the Cathedral steps, where Jamie Lanister rode up on horseback)
Stroll around the city, visit tiny alleyways of Jewish Quarter (there is also a great Jewish museum in town!)
We are heading to a small town Púbol, 27 km from Girona.
As a Dalí enthusiast how could I be in Catalunya and skip this magic place!
There is a large free parking place near the castle.
Entrance fee to this medieval castle is 8 euro.
This place is about Dalí’s great love for his wife. That was Dalí’s gift to Gala.
We started exploring the castle from beautiful garden with small fountains, sculptures and pools.
The garden’s labyrinths with narrow alleys are really lovely!
It’s one more place – surreal world of Salvador Dalí.
There are long-legged elephant sculptures in the garden! A big surprise was that sculptures are actually fountains at the same time ;)!
The whole castle is a cult of Gala!! Look! It’s her’s throne!
Fascinating insight into Dalí’s and Gala’s life…
Original furniture…
Here is all about his love, his muse, his queen!!
The artist himself personally participated in all the interior décor development.
Here you will have an opportunity to see collection of Gala’s haute couture dresses.
There is a mausoleum in the basement, designed by Dalí, where Gala is buried.
In the 1980s, the castle was transformed into Salvador Dalí’s last studio:)
Definitely a must visit place if you are around!
We are living Pubol and heading to Tarragona city, to spend our evening here. 275 km to go!:)
Tarragona is the second large city in Catalunya and the capital of Costa Dorada (Gold Coast).
Wounder what to see in Tarragona? We started with Mediterranean balcony.
Here is fantastic view of the Mediterranean!
Get sweeping view of the city… You can see the Amfiteatre from this spot!
It’s a great spot to stop to take perfect shot 🙂 take a few minutes to relax and remember how nice the life is!
From the Balcony you can easy get to the main street – Rambla Nova.
We’ve just walked along the street and enjoyed the architecture
small markets nearby:)
There are statues and many places for coffee, cakes and ice-cream 🙂 That is the main shopping street. Not as stunning as Barcelona’s but still enjoyable:)))
Interesting spot to see on the Rambla Nova is fountain – Font del Centenari
Four different humans with animals symbolize 4 continents:)
Have you heard about the human pyramids of Catalonia?
Don’t miss the symbol of Catalan culture that stands in the middle of the Rambla Nova. Human tower – amazing illustration of teamwork, trust and strength.
Human towers could be seen during a fascinating event in Catalunya – the festival of Santa Tecla in September 🙂
It’s all for today, we need to drive 155 km more to our next hotel.
Tomorrow will be new day and new emotions:)
See you tomorrow 🙂
The journey to be continued…
Don’t sit at home. Travel! Travel with me! 🙂 Meaww!
