Morning! Today we are going to the city which has stolen my heart once!
It’s Chania! We left our car on a public parking area for free(Google maps). No plans, let’s just enjoy this city! One of the best things to do in Chania is to wander around the old town!
Historic old town is full off pedestrian – only narrow streets.
Each small street has it’s own look and feel. Chania is probably one of the most – photographed cities in Greece 😉
The cobbled streets are filled with local artworks, ceramics, clothes and …
..yeahh, Chania is very popular with it’s leather goods in Crete. (Here you can find so called “leather street 🙂 )
Here are a lot of little alleys to get lost in.
You can find a variety of restaurants and bars that suit all tastes and budgets in the old town.
The taste of Crete…
If you wanna to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, olive oil and find an excellent selection of herbs and spices go to the local market. It’s pretty small and have very interesting shape of a cross 😉
Chania is modern and vibrant town with rich entertainment and cultural offerings.
The Venetian harbor is one more must see place in Chania! It doesn’t serve as a port for the large ships nowadays, but here are lot of yachts, sailing and fishing boats. Here you can find one of the oldest lighthouses in the world as well. This magnificent lighthouse was renovated in 2006, but doesn’t operate anymore. Tourists can’t visit it, but you can get to it by walking along the pier.
The sea breeze, picturesque views and the mystique of the old buildings create so magic atmosphere for a pleasant and relaxing walk along harbor.
Small local shops, waterside restaurants and cafes … or just sit on the promenade and enjoy life and the view. All I can say is WOW!
We stopped to have a quick look at remains of a Byzantine fortress and fortification walls on our way back.

One more good thing is that you can buy fresh fruits even on the street:) near the parking area 🙂 It’s all for today, it’s time to go back to the hotel 🙂
